About PTD

Heavy duty truck dealers have specific needs. Therefore, PAA, in 1975 established the Pennsylvania Truck Dealers (PTD) Board of Directors, representing heavy-duty truck dealers from across the state to service this highly specialized segment of PAA’s membership.

Each year since 1974, a PTD Convention is held to provide an opportunity for truck dealers to come together to benefit from industry speakers and to network with fellow dealers.

In the 1980s, PTDs work centered on supporting a fleet subsidy bill and on changed Federal Excise Tax from collection at wholesale to at first retail sale. In the 1990s, PTD-sponsored legislation changed dealer plate usage requirements for commercial trucks, adjusted the timetable for buyback of inventory, and created lemon law protections. In the 2000s, truck dealers were protected from manufacturer ownership, and in the 2010s, PTD assisted with glider kit titling changes and Pennsylvania taxability of Federal Excise Taxes.

The PTD Board of Directors monitors legislative and regulatory matters, providing necessary feedback and recommendations to assist PAA’s legislative team.
